Graduate Applications

I have had tremendous successs helping college graduates and adults find their voice in their applications to medical school, nursing school, physical therapy school, and more. Like college essays, graduate school essays need to be personal but they focus more on life experiences and career goals. The process is fun; you’ll discover a lot about yourself along the way. 

Prep School Applications

Applications to middle and high school are similar to college applications in that the admissions committee really wants to know the student. However, they have no interest in hearing an adult’s voice. Therefore, my job is to interview the student and identify what is special and unique about them. I help the student decide which aspects of themselves to bring forward in each question and draw their attention to obvious grammatical and spelling errors. I really love working with parents and guardians on their parent statement. Again, I help them organize their thoughts so they can clearly articulate what how this school is a great match for both the family and the child. 

Resumés and Cover Letters

Creating a resume requires the same skills as writing a college essay, just in a different medium. The goal is to distill the essence of the candidate onto the page. We do more than just list accomplishments; using targeting words, we capture what makes the client unique. I don’t consider myself an expert at formatting. My job is to help you sort through your experiences and target the job. A cover letter should complement the resume, highlighting and accenting the elements most important for the job being sought.

Toast and Card Writing

Why is it so hard to tell someone we love why they are special to us? Too often, the ideas get muddled and we lapse into cliché. Again, the power is in identifying and articulating specific stories, then explaining why they matter. I can help you as much or as little as you want, but the process is discussion-based and collaborative.

Communications/Ghost Writing/Editing/Website Copy

Clear, simple prose is essential to effective communication. First, we work together to establish goals and clarify your thoughts. You can write the first draft, or I can. Either way, the process is collaborative. I have written and edited grants, business reports, web content, and pamphlets for non-profits. Together, we will take your ideas and make them better.
