Executive Function

Under-performing students who appear to be lazy or unwilling to stay on task are often struggling with deficits in one or more areas of executive function. Our extraordinary coach, Galit Higgins, offers personalized support to middle schoolers, high schoolers, college students, and adults.

Coaching is neither tutoring nor counseling, but a collaborative process in which clients, with guidance and support, identify weaknesses and implement strategies to achieve measurable goals. The resulting improvements not only lead to academic success, but more importantly, to increased self-esteem and decreased anxiety.

Areas of focus can include

  • maintaining a calendar and daily planner

  • breaking long-term projects into smaller steps

  • turning in assignments on time/meeting deadlines

  • managing finances successfully

  • making time for self-care

  • organizing personal spaces like bedrooms, backpacks, and computer files

Galit is passionate about helping clients understand that executive function deficits do not define them. She recognizes their strengths and celebrates their achievements, no matter how seemingly insignificant. With compassion and patience, Galit is there with the tools, encouragement, and understanding to teach clients skills they will use in every area of their lives.
