Applications

Learning to identify and tell our own stories — whether to a university or to an employer — is a critical life skill. We see the application process as a singular opportunity for young people to identify and articulate who they are and what they want. We can help them present their experiences and ideas with power, passion, and clarity.

  • Applications to middle and high school are similar to college applications in that admissions officers really want to know the student. Coaches interview both parent and student. Together, we decide which aspects, hobbies, and interests to bring forward in each question. Once the essays are drafted, we draw the applicant’s attention to obvious grammatical and spelling errors while leaving their unique voice intact.

We also help parents organize and compose parent statements that clearly articulate how each school is a great match for both the family and the child.

We offer SSAT, ISEE, and HSPT test support.

“I just drank my morning coffee while reading Sarah’s essays and I am speechless and so grateful to you for helping her voice shine so brightly! You are extraordinary at what you do.”

  • “Ben comes away from meetings with you lit up and energized. It’s priceless seeing him find his voice. Deep gratitude. It’s a true gem in this harrowing process of entering adulthood.”

The college application process, despite its challenges, is a singular opportunity for young people to identify and articulate who they are and what they want from their college experience. Test scores and grades are essential, but only tell part of the story. We help students compile amazing resumes that create compelling narratives for the admissions officers.

  • Transfer applications require a clear articulation of a student’s goals and reasons for wanting to attend the transfer school.

  • Graduate school essays must be both personal and narrowly focused on career goals. We have had tremendous success helping college graduates and adults find their voice in their applications to medical school, law school, nursing school, physical therapy school, public policy programs, and more.

“I was accepted to Columbia Law early decision! I was below both Columbia's median GPA and LSAT score, and having strong essays definitely put me over the top.”

  • “I now have a resume that eloquently expresses who I am as a professional and as a warm, compassionate person. For the first time in my life I can say I have a resume I LOVE!”

A resume is more than a collection of facts describing work experiences and educational background. It is a collection of short stories that has the potential to be written in a way that makes an applicant’s skills, values, and interests stand out. We do more than just list accomplishments; using targeting words, we capture what makes the applicant unique. A cover letter should complement the resume, highlighting and accenting the elements most important for the job being sought.
