Taking the Stress out of the College Applications
I got a real kick out of the McSweeney piece, Family Computer Game Review: The Common App. I am part of the same generation as most of the parents of college applicants (I have one in college and one on his way) and the college application process really was closer to a single player game for us. Additionally, there seemed to be a set of definable rules back then: Straight As + Good SAT Scores + Captain of Sports Team + Some Kind of Volunteerism = admission to top school. Those rules are no longer in play, and there are many good reasons for that.
Our goal is to take the stress out of this process (or at least relieve as much of it as we can) by guiding you through the increasingly complex web of college applications step by step. Rather than focus on “character creation,” as in the McSweeney piece, we want to help you find your authentic voice and highlight your achievements and potential. We keep you on track and ensure that the work gets done in our sessions so there are no squabbles at home. See this timeline to learn about what needs to be done and when.
